Among the most infamous vanity galleries anywhere is AGORA GALLERY in NYC. Well, the folks at AGORA have moved from VANITY GALLERIES to VANITY MAGAZINES with the creation of ArtisSpectrum Magazine. Despite inflatesd claims of sales or distribution, no standing and no reputation in the art market, no collectors, certainly no museums would ever deal with them. They're also never reviewed. Art critics never visit them. Their goal is not promoting artists, it's making money, ...OFF YOU! |

The
so-called FLORENCE BIENNALE demands $2000 fee per artist. By
their account, approximately 800 artists participate. That's $1,600,000!!! Artists meet artists, sure, but what an expensive way to meet new "friends". Add another $2,000.00 for accommodation and flights plus shipping costs.and you are coming nearer the mark. I'd like to know how many people visit it during those 8 days in the middle of Winter. |

The basic strategy from GRUPO BATIC ART is to lead you by the nose while demanding fee after fee for additional participation in exhibits and the promise of sales to a nonexhisting "prominent collector". The fee for this new exhibit will depend on the price of your paintings "sold". If you agree to participate in the new exhibit and there is a difference between the money the Group Batik owes you for the sale of your work and the fee of the contract, you have to pay that difference. But the faux client is Batik which will "buy" your art, at cutrate prices, financially endebting you to them, and then going on to resell the piece to a real client at an inflated price and making huge profits. To add insult to injury, once you artwork is in the mill, it is close to impossible to recover. --
Gleaned and condensed from www.arte10.com Please note that, as far as our research has been able to determine, there is no Grupo Batik Art either in Miami or San Francisco. There is also no evidence of the existence of a "realtime", "hardcopy" San Francisco Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art or Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin American Art, Miami, where Grupo Batic Art claims to hold exhibits. They are to be found in no Museum listing in the United States. ON THE MORNING OF THURSDAY, 2 MARCH 2006, I received a telephone call from a woman who identified herself only as an owner at BATIC ART demanding I delete BATIC ART'S name from this page. Later that day from a man, again demanding I delete ending with an ominous "someday we may be in New York." I refused, inquired if they had changed their policies and asked them not to call again. As of that night and for the next couple of weeks, I started receiving anonymous hang-up calls every night, the first around 2:30am, then another about 20 minutes later and then again around 4am. On Monday, 6 March,I received an e-mail from one PEDRO FERNÁNDEZ <fernanped22@yahoo.com.mx> with the single line "you should read this", "Deberías leer esto" and the following link >>> http://www.freewebs.com/savetheart/ which Mr. Fernández seems to have been busy posting on blogs all over the internet anonymously or under aliases. I suspect, given certain clues that Pedro knows me from long ago, from a different century, a different place and very different circumstances and that he's been carrying a grudge for at least 30 years. What a waste of time and energy. I responded that the internet is free and that I was undisturbed by this posting. On 17 March, we received a bouquet of flowers with a note addressed to my wife which read "your friends don't forget you" and signed 'Brad'. We were able to trace the flowers to a shop in Burbank California. They had been ordered by one 'Brad Kepler', unknown to both of us. Telephone records indicated the sender's true identity: JACK KAUFMAN OF LOS ANGELES, surely a pawn in Batic's game. Too much of a coincidence not to be. All this is meant to intimidate, I'm sure. Next came a renewal of the pre-dawn phone calls for several days as of Sunday, 9 April. This one lasted for only a few days. They finally must have gotten board with all this childish play. Now, after a hiatus of a couple of months, Batic raises its nasty head again, this time with a call on Monday, 19 June, from some lawyer in Barcelona, again for the purpose of intimidating me into deleting my references to GRUPO BATIC ART. Let me reasure the folks at Baticart as I did their "picapleitos": IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. If they want to proceed against me legally, let them be advised that, in order to make any charges stick, they have to open their accounting books to the scrutiny of the courts so as to demonstrate that I have financially harmed their organization in any way. I VERY MUCH DOUBT THEY'LL RISK THAT. This is all I'll say at this point in time. If you want to read more about GRUPO BATIC ART or SALA BARNA of Barcelona, there's plenty to go around on the internet in any number of languages. Following is a list of just a few of the many references you may find: http://www.stormpages.com/batikart/ To

"The New York FEW artists provide a fresh new look at the nude and contemporary figurative art. It's a loosely knit group of artists coming out of drawing ateliers in New York City. Expressive works in traditional and non-traditional media. Artist represented here are: Jake Bialos, Michael Tice, Lawrence Day." TOTAL FAUX OR FANTASY! While NYFew.com "members" Mssrs. Bialos and Tice do reside in New York City, Mr. Day lives in Paris where he retreated to after a faioled attempt to scam New York artists with a pyramid scheme hatched in colaboration with the friendly folk at NY ARTS MAGAZINE (...birds of a feather....). There is no connection or association, 'coming out of drawing ateliers in New York City' or otherwise, among any of the artists presumably represented there. |
