Born on 7 December1948 in the Philippines, Denis Ambrose Achacoso came to New York as a child and was raised in Brooklyn. He attended the prestigeous Regis High School, Canisius College, Ateneo de Manila University and Fordham University.

Always people-oriented, he gave his services to many at Fordham, New York University, Columbia Harvard Cornrll and other centers of learning.

Denis loved to play -- music on his guitar, chess in Washington Square and Ithaca Commons and with words in his many jokes and stories. He made us laugh, he brought us joy and he gave us the gift of boundless love.

Predeceased by his father, Dr. Iluminado Achacoso, he is survived by his mother, Aurora Achacoso; his longtime companion, Gail Linbloom; his siblings Eileen, Eric, Peter, Patricia, Philip, John and James; his many nieces and nephews; and his wide family of friends.

Musician, artist, clown -- truly "a man for others".

rt is never having to say you're Seurat.
~ Denis Achacoso
